Sigma Tau Delta at JMU

When cast aside for unkempt books

A soldier’s spirit thickens

And rotten with this vile pus

The nurse’s stomach sickens

A war of salt and blood and ash

Is fought for every day

This war in fucking silence waged

One too many miles away

When lightning strikes a camera

Shows bodies on the ground

Maize and oil, a bloody map

A short-lived king is crowned

The birds of war, stone deaf and blind

Into the earth must crash

And Mammon cackles in the dim

As we stumble ‘neath the lash

Compassion lies upon the shore

Sobbing to the waves for she could never swim so long

So she must cry and stay
